DULSE is a natural sea vegetable that grows in the cold waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. It grows on rocks at the low tide line where currents are strong and the bottom is clean.
DULSE is a tasty snack food eaten as you would popcorn, It may also be sprinkled with grated cheese or seasonings, and heated to make a crunchy appetizer. Substituting DULSE for bacon makes a very interesting Club Sandwich. Shredded DULSE or prepared DULSE Flakes make a colourful addition to chowders, omelettes and soups. DULSE Flakes become a tasty seasoning for potatoes, pasta and green salads, and an attractive garnish for canapes.

DULSE is rich in protein and free of fat, sugar and cholesterol. It does contain several minerals common to the sea and a wide variety of vitamins.
Atlantic Mariculture's harvesters travel by dory to remote shoreline locations to select and hand-pick the fresh, wet DULSE. Quality DULSE can only be picked at low tides during a few days each summer month. It is then dried naturally, on beach rocks, by sea breezes under the summer sun. Our packers grade, package and seal the product in biodegradable packaging to preserve freshness.
The scientific name for DULSE is Palmaria Palmata. Atlantic Mariculture dulse originates from Dark Harbour, Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, on the east coast of Canada.
